About GoEuro

GoEuro is a convenient multi-mode search engine for all major forms of travel in Europe. We compare and combine air, bus, train and car rental options for many destinations throughout Europe – both big and small – not just cities lucky enough to have an airport. We work out the overall travel time and costs, making it easier for you to plan and budget your trip.

Multi-mode travel is the term used for when you take different forms of transport in order to reach a final destination. When people travel, they usually need to make a smaller trip to get them to the main leg of their journey – driving a car or taking the train to and from the airport for instance. We compare and combine these options, helping you decide what the most suitable route is.

Example 1: London to Paris – We display the time/cost for train, bus, flight or car. You’ll notice that taking the high-speed-train is actually quicker than flying, once you factor in the journeys to and from the airport and the waiting times. Pretty useful, right?

Example 2: Heidelberg to Prague – Since Heidelberg doesn’t have its own airport, we show you the train connections and prices to the airports nearest to it. With this information you should have a better idea of the journey time and costs.

GoEuro automatically searches for multi-mode combinations when air travel to/from destinations is available and then compares the difference between those results. Where a connection isn’t available, we display driving times along with the estimated petrol consumption.

Should your desired journey not offer a multi-mode combination, let us know, and our development team will get on the case to make it happen.

GoEuro can be used anywhere and by everyone to search for, browse and book travel connections. You can search for connections between any two places in the world: we have global air coverage, so most results would show you the possible flight options, but if you’re located within Europe (or travelling to it) you’ll also be shown alternative forms of transport, such as rail, bus or car, which should make your travel search experience that bit richer.

GoEuro is an easy-to-use travel search tool that goes a step further than other travel search engines. Our results show you the possible combinations from our travel partners, which allows for transparency with no hidden agenda: we don’t operate our own flights, buses or trains. In short: we’re an independent entity and, as such, you can rest assured knowing that the results on the screen will always be unbiased and true.
We’re happy to give advice on how to use our service, although please be aware that we personally aren’t able to plan your journey in detail, nor can we inform you of any offers on your desired route - that’s exactly what the website is for!

Yes, of course! We are completely legitimate.
If you make a purchase directly on our website - and not on our partner's website - we send you your tickets right away. These tickets, which include a booking reference and ticket number, are issued by our partners themselves: we merely pass them on to you. If you have any questions or requests regarding tickets bought on our website, we are the people you need to contact.

About Our Search Engine

We use proprietary localised mapping technology to find the closest airport, train or bus station to any location – big and small – not just cities that have an airport. Next, we show you the most efficient routes to your destination: our search system is able to combine different forms of transport for you - this is called multi-mode. We take away the effort that comes with travel planning and provide you with the right information to help you save time and money. Once you have decided on a route, you’ll either be able to finalise your booking by buying the ticket directly from our website or via a link to the page of the provider - which one depends on the cooperation that we have with each individual provider.

After your search, there’s a summary table where you can see the price and total journey time as well as the different routes you can take to reach your destination. Click on the tab showing your preferred mode of transport and play with our filters on the left hand side of the results page to optimise the list. You can use the filters on GoEuro to plan trips that are specific to your personal preferences regarding a number of different factors: how you want to travel, your budget, departure and arrival time, duration and even the number of changes. Alternatively, for your convenience, you can sort the search results by cheapest, fastest, departure time and arrival time.

Bus stops and train stations show up once you hover over the city/ town names and again during the payment stage. Trains and buses usually depart and arrive at the main station in the city/ town. All the details are included in the ticket confirmation that you will receive upon booking.

Just click the cheapest tab that is located on the upper-right-hand side of our search results page. You can customise your results by playing with our filters and tabs.

Due to the huge range of sources from which we draw our information, the search and booking of tickets in advance depends on the mode of transport and the countries involved in the journey. You can search for flights for up to a year in advance while train and bus schedules are provided to us - varying from country to country - between 30 and 120 days in advance.

There may be several reasons for a missing transit connection to an airport. In some cases our current partners don’t offer services to a specific airport. Alternatively it may be that your chosen flight is too early or late for transit connections. Otherwise, it could simply be that the airport is not directly accessible using public transport.
For most airports in Europe we have information regarding transport between airports and the surrounding city centres. If a connection isn’t provided, let us know and we’ll begin working on finding a solution.

We’re working hard to cover most of the routes requested; however, if the route you’ve chosen isn’t available, it could be that our providers don’t cover the entire journey. In that case, we’ll indicate the closest point to your destination.

Our team is always trying to improve the number of available options and if your chosen route doesn’t appear in our search, please tell us!

The estimates for driving times are worked out using a number of different factors, including official speed limits, the types of road encountered along the way and real-time traffic information. Fuel costs are roughly based on the average cost of petrol in Europe (€1.60 per litre/ 8 litres per 100km). Of course, consumption and cost of petrol varies greatly, depending on the type of vehicle used, as well as the country and currency. Please note that we do not provide a car service, we’re simply suggesting an alternative method to complete the last leg of the journey.

Yes. They are very small files that our site sends to your computer's hard drive through the web browser (if you approve them). They enable our site's systems to recognise your browser and to then capture and remember certain information that helps to optimise your searches on our website.

About Booking and Tickets

Since we’re a travel search tool, once you’ve found the best route, the booking will either be finalised through our website or you’ll be transferred to the site of the provider, where you can complete your purchase. If the latter is the case, you book directly with the travel providers and not with us, which is why we don’t hold onto any of your details regarding your booking.

You’ll need to check cancellation options with the transport provider. For example, if you bought a ticket on RailEasy’s website, please check what the RailEasy cancellation policy is. Tickets bought directly on the GoEuro website like those offered by Renfe, Trenitalia and Movelia may be cancelled if allowed by their terms and conditions.

To be sure of your cancellation options before you book, once you’re on the page listing all of the potential transport options, click on the small (i) icon next to the price. This should then show you all the cancellation information regarding your chosen route. Additional information will also be provided during the booking process. Discounted or reduced tickets cannot be changed or cancelled - e.g. PROMO or Super Economy tickets offered by Renfe and Trenitalia respectively as well as the Reduced Fare at Movelia.

Before you book, once you’re on the page listing all of the potential transport options, click on the small (i) icon next to the price. This should bring up your options for changing the ticket. Additional information will be provided while booking.

Some tickets are flexible and allow changes. In order to change dates of travel or make any other changes, please contact the transport provider. For example, if you’ve purchased a Deutsche Bahn train ticket and would like to make any changes, please contact Deutsche Bahn. For tickets purchased directly through GoEuro, you can click on our contact page for information during office hours. The discounted or reduced tickets can’t be changed or cancelled - e.g. PROMO or Super Economy tickets offered by Renfe and Trenitalia respectively as well as the Reduced Fare at Movelia.

Since we ourselves are not a transport company, we need to comply entirely with the different luggage policies of each provider. We are always happy to help you regarding the baggage policy for your desired route - give us a call or write to us. In most cases, every passenger is allowed to take on board at least one item of hand luggage and one suitcase.

It is never guaranteed that you'll be able to bring a bike on board a coach or train. In any case, if you can it's usually only if the bike is foldable or packed away. If it is possible, in many instances the providers usually impose a fee. Contact us and we'll find out what the bike policy is and help you to book the correct bicycle ticket.

When it comes to allowing pets on board, it is normally up to the travel providers themselves. On buses, it is rarely possible, whilst train companies often allow it for a small extra charge. We are happy to help you find out whether or not you can bring along your beloved four-legged friend and at what extra cost.

Our system is currently designed to allow up to 5 bookings at a time. For group bookings numbering greater than 5 people, please go straight to the provider or check with our team for assistance.

Unfortunately, we don’t yet offer these features on our website, although we’re working hard on being able to provide them in the future. For more information, please check with our team.

Travel providers often have their own policies for when it comes to travelling with children. Some providers consider a child as being younger than 12 years old, whilst others go all the way up to 14 or 15. Usually children get to travel for free or at a discounted fare, however in some instances the provider may only offer tickets for children at the full price. During the booking process, you can find specific information on your chosen travel mode. Of course, we are here to answer any questions you might have.

If you’ve booked a ticket on the GoEuro website, you’ll receive a confirmation email to the email address you provided. The confirmation email contains your ticket in PDF format and an invoice for the GoEuro fee as an attached file. Please print the ticket and bring it with you to the train station.

Otherwise, if you booked on the website of one of our partners they’ll also send you a confirmation email for your booking. Please note: since every provider has their own booking system, we recommend that you check your booking options with the ticket provider.

If you’ve booked a ticket with GoEuro and haven’t received a confirmation email within 24 hours, please contact our customer services by email: or by phone - check out the contact page.

After you enter your credit card details, our website will redirect you to a new page requesting your personal security code. Your financial institution will authenticate the transaction within seconds by sending an email or text with the security code to confirm your purchase. The resulting code needs to be typed into the field and sent off. This process is for both your and our security, ensuring that the user is authorised to use the credit card.

To check your enrolment with Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode, you’ll need to activate this feature first. You can do this during the payment process, or activate it in advance through the Visa or MasterCard website. If your bank does not participate in this feature you won’t be asked to provide a code.

When the booking is first initiated the ticket price is reserved on your credit card in order to confirm its validity for your and our security. If the booking process is unsuccessful, this amount is released from our side any time between a few hours to a whole day. Please be aware that some financial institutions hold pre-authorised amounts for up to 30 days.

For some customers, these pre-authorisations look like charges in their bank statements - this is because some banks don’t mention if the amount is a real charge or just a pre-authorisation. If you’re uncertain as to what has happened on your account, please call us and we can check for you straight away.

Some providers don’t need tickets to be individualised; others do. For example, Renfe doesn’t require the passenger name on each ticket, nor does Trenitalia; however, the bus provider Movelia does.

Many providers require you to bring a printed copy of the ticket to the station, nevertheless, sometimes just showing the ticket as a PDF on your smartphone is sufficient.

If you’ve already booked your ticket, check for further instructions on the ticket itself or contact the provider directly.

Most providers we work with consider the ticket to be an invoice. If you book via GoEuro directly you’ll receive an invoice in the confirmation email.

We’re working hard to integrate all forms of transport across the different countries into our database and we frequently update our maps. You can use our tool to search to and from anywhere in Europe and at this time GoEuro’s agility is best within these countries.

We only charge booking fees on bookings made directly through our website.

The accepted currencies depend on our partners’ payment system. For this reason, we’ve created a currency converter so you can work out the costs more easily. Simply select a currency from the drop-down list, located in the upper-right-hand corner of our website. For bookings made directly through GoEuro, we accept Visa and Mastercard.

Payments can only be made online: we only work with websites that offer a secure online payment.

GoEuro provides a combination of travel modes that are available through our partnerships. At the moment, our focus is on improving combinations, increasing transparency and widening our search capabilities. We’re always working on partner and geographic integrations, but would like to do complete on-site booking in the future. For the mean time, we provide you with the convenience of comparing and combining all types of transport in one place.

You will receive a confirmation of purchase from the transport provider or online agency where you completed the transaction and they’ll send you your tickets. For example, if you book a flight to Manchester and then a train to Liverpool, you should receive two confirmations and two types of ticket – one for your flight and another for your train.

We’re always happy to help, however, on some occasions it isn’t actually us who you need to get in touch with. In order to solve any problems pre- or post-booking, as well as any post-journey issues, please contact the transport provider or online agency that you used to purchase your tickets.
